Monkeystone E³ ownage - update by
DI-MeisterM
Monkeystone
Games will visit the Electronic
Entertainment Expo 2003 to show some of their games
at the Nokia booth. Here's a quote
from Tom Hall:
"Two
or three of our games will be shown. Our 3D shooter for
the N-Gage, Congo Cube for Cellphones, and possibly one
other.
But
they will be shown at our publisher or Nokia's both --
only the shooter will we be involved in helping to show
off. Apart from the tons of assets we've given them. :)"

It's not true :( - update by DI-MeisterM
The
last news mentioned, that John might work on another FPS.
That's not true, as he acknowledges in the Rome.ro
forums:
"Um,
that is an ancient 1997 news article someone dredged up
and posted...."
Furthermore
there will be a Daikatana section on John's
page:
"Oh,
there will be a full list on this site when the DK section
goes up......."

Truth or not?- update by DI-MeisterM
Following
information is available on ActionTrip:
"Romero
working on a new game [Uros "2Lions" Jojic]
11:43pm(GMT)
John Romero is issuing a challenge on Ion Storm's recently
opened website. The idea is to beat e2m5 in less than
1 minute and 2 seconds on skill 0.
There
are also demos of Romero's matches with KillCreek from
Dallas. Apparently, there was some controversy over a
sexist remark included in the description at one point
(intended, I presume, as a joke about the man-beatings
(girl-beatings?) the Romero and KillCreek gave each other)
but not to fear, it's been removed (sort of).
This
is still unconfirmed, but reliable sources
tell me that John Romero is working on
a very hush-hush new project, powered by the latest
id technology! Stay tuned for more news on this
game!!"

Fantastic news- update by DI-MeisterM
John
said following sentences in the Rome.ro
forums, this explains all:
"Hey

I
have found all my Daikatana alphas and betas. I'll put
them together for the eventual downloading!
I'll start with the most recent version.....and work backward!
[
time passes ]
Just
checked one out from Aug-1998. Man, you guys are gonna
go nuts digging through all this stuff. These are development
builds so you get to see ALL the raw graphics files, maps,
etc. Tons of stuff just in one alpha to look at.... !!!"

Romero interview- update by DI-MeisterM
I
only mention this interview
in the news because John talks about Daikatana. Here's
a bit from the interview:
"Doupe: Can you be
self-critical? What do you think about your last projects
in Ion Storm after several months?
J.R.: Well, Daikatana wasn't the game
I set out to create - it took far too long and lots happened
during development to ensure it would never match its
potential. I think it's a decent game, but it's not a
triple-A title. Anachronox was a great game, though, and
along with Deus Ex, achieved what I had wanted to achieve
at Ion Storm - multiple excellent games in development
at once and all being released with critical acclaim.
Unfortunately, Daikatana didn't make that list, but it
did make an impact in a different way."

What do you think...?- update by DI-MeisterM
